Watch Kanye West Try Out for ‘American Idol’

There’s no denying Kanye West’s status as an American icon. And if you ever forget he will make sure the fact is made clear. But just for shets and giggles, the world renowned entertainer recently decided to try out for the long running show American Idol. You know, just to see if he still has what it takes.

‘Ye showed up to a tryout in San Francisco and was allowed to perform in front of the judges. West performed his hit “Gold Digger,” which was a good move strategically seeing as he name-drops Idol judge Jennifer Lopez on the track. After a spirited rendition of the song, where Yeezy was all smiles, West was voted in and awarded with his golden ticket to L.A. It had to be one of the biggest moments of the rap star’s career. Sarcasm folks. Kanye seemed to enjoy every minute of his visit.
